When it comes to transforming a home, few things make as immediate an impact as new flooring. My own journey with Hereward Carpets in Werrington began some time ago when I first purchased vinyl from them. The experience was positive enough that, when the time came to replace the dated green carpet in my hallway, they were the first people I turned to.

A Careful Survey and Honest Advice

Before any work began, Mark carried out a detailed survey of the hallway. He quickly identified a couple of dips in the solid floor — nothing unusual in older properties, but an important discovery. Laminate flooring must be laid on a firm, level surface, and Mark explained clearly that a screed would be needed to ensure a perfect finish.—-

The fitters arrived promptly, removed the old carpet, and laid the screed. By the time I returned from a shopping trip around five hours later, it had already dried enough to walk on. The preparation alone gave me confidence that the final result would be worth the wait.

The following day, installers John and Paul arrived — and watching them work was genuinely impressive. They moved with a quiet efficiency, each completely absorbed in their task, yet perfectly in sync. At times it felt like watching one craftsman with four hands rather than two separate people.

They laid the underlay first, then fitted each length of laminate with precision, cutting neatly into the lower door architraves and ensuring every joint sat perfectly. The finishing touches — slim wooden beading and aluminium door thresholds — completed the look beautifully.

What stood out most was not just their skill, but their pride. When the final piece clicked into place, both men stepped back with big smiles, clearly pleased with the result. They left the hallway spotless, removing every scrap of waste before they left.

To say I was pleased would be an understatement. The hallway now feels brighter, cleaner, and far more modern — a genuine transformation. The entire experience, from Mark’s initial advice to the final sweep‑up by John and Paul, was professional, friendly, and reassuring.
