Blue Diamond Garden Centre Peterborough
Blue Diamond Peterborough: Where Is Your Local Meeting Place?
Discovering New Places Around Peterborough
One of the pleasures of producing Peterborough Wide Horizons is discovering places around Peterborough and the surrounding communities that I haven’t visited before.
While looking at the map recently for somewhere different to explore, I spotted Blue Diamond Garden Centre and decided it was time to pay a visit, have a look around and perhaps enjoy a bite to eat while I was there.
My First Look Around Blue Diamond
On arrival, I made my way through the indoor plant area before emerging into a very large and impressive space filled with household items and so much more.
There seemed to be something around every corner, including a food hall, and it soon became clear that this wasn’t somewhere I was going to explore properly in a quick visit.
By then I was feeling a little peckish, so I headed into the Home & Garden Restaurant.
Time for a Bite to Eat

The restaurant provided a welcome opportunity to sit back and relax, and I settled down with a jacket potato and black coffee.
Sitting there and watching people around me chatting over coffee and meals got me thinking about something beyond my visit to Blue Diamond.
Places like this can become much more than somewhere to shop or have something to eat. They can also become places where people meet, talk and enjoy each other’s company.
So Much More to Discover

After lunch, I caught a glimpse of the huge garden section and realised that I had barely scratched the surface of what there was to see.
Rather than trying to squeeze everything into one visit, I decided this was somewhere I would return to another day and discover more of what Blue Diamond has to offer.
But my visit had also prompted another thought.
Where Are Our Local Meeting Places?
How many other interesting places around Peterborough are waiting to be discovered?
Perhaps it’s an independent café where re
gular customers become familiar faces. Maybe it’s a restaurant where friends meet every week, a community centre bustling with activities, a library, church hall or social club.
It could even be somewhere we might normally think of primarily as a shopping destination, but which has also become somewhere people enjoy meeting and spending time together.
These places can provide friendship, conversation and that valuable feeling of belonging to a community.
And That’s Where You Come In
We know there must be many community meeting places across Peterborough and the surrounding villages that we have yet to discover.
Where is your favourite local meeting place, and what makes it special?
Is it the friendly staff, the atmosphere, the activities, the people you meet there or simply somewhere you always feel welcome?
Your recommendation might even inspire one of our next Peterborough Wide Horizons visits.
