Paston People, Places and Memories Launches at Paston Farm

A new chapter in preserving and celebrating local heritage began recently with the first meeting of the Paston People, Places and Memories History Group at Paston Farm Community Centre.

The group came together for the very first time to discuss how it will operate and to share ideas for recording and celebrating the rich history of the local community. Members agreed that meetings will take place on the second Wednesday of every month from 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm at Paston Farm Community Centre.

The group welcomes anyone with an interest in local history. Whether you have stories to share, memories to preserve, a passion for researching the past, or simply a curiosity about the area’s heritage, you are warmly invited to join.

While old buildings, streets and landmarks often tell part of a community’s story, the history of the people who lived, worked and grew up around them is equally important. Many residents hold treasured childhood memories and personal experiences that may never appear in history books, yet they form a vital part of the story of Paston and its surrounding communities.

By collecting and preserving these memories, the group hopes to build a richer picture of local life, ensuring that today’s stories are not lost and can be enjoyed and learned from by current and future generations. Every recollection, photograph, document, and family story helps add another piece to the community’s historical record.

As the group proudly says, “The past should be enjoyed, celebrated and shared, so it can be Past’on to others.”

Members also expressed their gratitude to Pride in Place, whose funding support has helped make the project possible.

A spokesperson for the group said:

“A huge thank you to Pride in Place for funding our group and helping us get this project underway. Your support is helping us bring people together to celebrate and preserve the history of our community.”

Anyone interested in becoming involved is encouraged to attend the next meeting and help uncover, record and share the stories that make Paston unique.

Meetings: Second Wednesday of every month
Time: 6.00pm to 8.00pm
Venue: Paston Farm Community Centre
