Baa Baa Bistro Community Café Reopens in Paston
Baa Baa Bistro Community Café Back at Paston Farm
After an enforced closure of around two months by Peterborough City Council, Baa Baa Bistro Community Café reopened at Paston Farm Community Centre with a small gathering on Thursday 29 October, when people enjoyed meeting again for a cuppa, cake and a long-missed chat.
The café then reopened on Saturday 31 October, hoping to welcome back members of the Men’s Club, including local bikers who traditionally enjoy breakfast there. The feeling shared by many is perhaps best summed up in Baa Baa Bistro Community Café’s social media post.
Baa Baa Bistro Community Cafe is feeling grateful with Paston Farm Community Centre.
💕 WE’RE BACK HOME! 🏡☕
What a lovely welcome back this morning! 🥰 A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along, supported us and helped make our first morning back such a success.
You kept us so busy that we barely had time to take any photos! 📸😂 But honestly, that’s the best kind of problem to have!
We’re so excited to be back home and welcoming everyone through the doors again.
It’s been a journey getting here, and seeing familiar faces and our community coming together means so much to us.
Over the next week, we’ll be easing ourselves back in with a slightly limited menu while we get settled, get everything organised and find our feet again.
Thank you for your patience, kindness and continued support. We’re looking forward to many more cuppas, chats, laughter and lovely community moments together! ☕🍰💗
Here’s to a new chapter, back where we belong! 🥰
Watch this space – more details to follow 💕🎉🥳
The cafe will open Saturdays 9.30am to 12 noon, and Mondays and Thursdays from 9.30am to 2.00pm.
Hope to see you soon,
Tracy
Why was Paston Farm Community Centre closed?
Peterborough City Council closed Paston Farm Community Centre, along with Baa Baa Bistro Community Café, with much of the equipment being removed and placed into storage ahead of proposed refurbishment works.
These plans included adapting the building so it could potentially share accommodation with the Dementia Resource Centre. Many local residents had been looking forward to the centre reopening so that normal community activities could continue.
Subsequently, news emerged that the council-owned Copeland Centre in Bretton had also been closed while being considered as a possible location for the Dementia Resource Centre. It now appears that both properties will be surveyed and assessed before a final decision is made on the centre’s future location.
Building a community hub all over again
Paston Farm Community Centre and Baa Baa Bistro Community Café now face the challenge of welcoming back many of the groups that have used the centre over recent 19 months, including the Mums and Babies Club, Mindful Yoga, Guided Relaxation, The Grief Club, Neighbourhood Police Meetings and the Martial Arts Club.
They are also hoping to welcome back the Paston Farm Yarners, Creative Café and Pilates Group, which have been accommodated in the separate Police Boxing Gym. However, all groups future arrangements could still be affected if refurbishment work proceeds and Paston Farm is ultimately selected as the future home of the Dementia Resource Centre.

The first Saturday following the reopening saw around 20 people, including members of the Knit and Stitch Group, Men’s Group and Pilates Group, along with local residents enjoying refreshments and helping to begin a new chapter for the centre.
The future for Paston Farm Community Centre
For now, the future of Paston Farm Community Centre remains uncertain, and the community will have to wait and see what decision Peterborough City Council ultimately makes regarding the site’s long-term use.
For now, however, residents and regular users are simply pleased to see the centre’s doors open once again and community life beginning to return.
