A new contender has stepped into one of Peterborough’s most closely watched local contests, as Ryan Gallagher is confirmed as Reform UK’s candidate for the upcoming Fletton & Woodston by-election.

The vote, scheduled for 16 July 2026, will mark the third time this year that residents in the ward head to the polls, following earlier elections in February and May.

LOCAL NAME ON THE BALLOT

Described as “Peterborough born and bred,” Gallagher enters the race with established links to the area and prior experience on the campaign trail.

He previously stood in the Paston & Walton ward during the May local elections, where he secured 666 votes, finishing third in a five-way contest.

His selection completes a four-way field that includes candidates from Labour, the Conservatives, and the Green Party, setting up a competitive battle for the vacant council seat.

In outlining his platform, Gallagher has focused on everyday issues raised by local residents, placing emphasis on practical improvements across the ward.
