£587k owed to Manor Drive: Council pledges action before 2027
At the Full Peterborough City Council Meeting (1.7.2026), Reform UK’s Gunthorpe candidate Dr Tom Rogers and Mr Radek Jazinski from the Forgotten Fields campaign pressed the Council on its failure so far to deliver the £587,000 worth of community facilities promised for Manor Drive / Roman Fields estate under the Section 106 agreement.
These facilities, a community centre and two new play/recreation areas, were paid for by the developer and are contractually owed to residents.
Key Points from the Meeting
- Council Leader Cllr Sabina Qayyum confirmed that the developer has already transferred the full £587,000 to the Council.
- She stated that the money must be spent by August 2027, otherwise it would have to be returned to the developer.
- She committed to holding a public meeting by the end of July, involving residents, ward councillors, and the MP, to consult on what the estate now needs, especially given changes such as the school expansion.
- Reform representatives made clear they will keep pressure on the Council until Manor Drive / Roman Fields estate receives the facilities residents have effectively paid for through their house purchases.
Why This Matters
Residents have waited years for facilities that were contractually promised. Today’s exchange finally confirmed:
- The money exists
- The Council must spend it
- A public consultation will happen this month
- Delivery must occur before August 2027
