Residents from Hampton Grove Care Home in Peterborough recently enjoyed a joyful summer outing to Hunstanton, sparking fond childhood memories, friendly competition, and plenty of laughter along the promenade.

The minibus journey set the tone for a day of reminiscing. Resident Jill shared touching stories about her grandfather, a fishmonger who made Hunstanton a cherished family tradition, turning the coastal town into a treasured part of her childhood.

Residents and Staff enjoy a sociable afternoon over lunch reminicing about the past beach outings

On arrival, residents and staff settled in for a relaxed midday lunch, swapping stories over their meals and enjoying the simple pleasure of good food shared in good company. Afterwards, they took a gentle stroll along the beach to soak up the sea breeze. And of course, no seaside visit would be complete without ice cream. Resident Bonnie summed it up perfectly: “You have to have an ice cream when you go to the seaside!”

The afternoon brought a burst of fun at the local amusement arcade. The group gathered around the classic 2p coin machines for some light‑hearted competition, even giving the machines a playful shake in hopes of a few extra winnings.

The outing brought residents closer together, celebrating friendship, shared memories, and the simple joy of a day by the sea, offering both emotional uplift and the well‑known well-being benefits of time spent outdoors.

Following the success of the trip, Activity Coordinator Becky shared, “We are already planning the home’s next minibus outing.”
