John Bolton and Reza Be Clear Paths to Help Peterborough Residents
We recently wrote about the growing desire among people in Peterborough to help others in need. One issue that continues to affect many residents is the simple but important matter of keeping our town’s footpaths clean, tidy, and accessible. Overgrown hedges, stinging nettles, and neglected cut‑throughs can make everyday journeys difficult, especially for those with mobility challenges.
This week, we saw another strong example of public spirit from Reform Councillor, John R Bolton and his friend Reza Be, who stepped in once again to help a resident struggling with an overgrown path.
John explained:
“Another path clearing with Reza Be to help this lovely lady access the cut‑through to the bus stop. A wheelchair user, she had stopped using it due to stinging nettles and overgrown bushes. It was requested to the council to be cleared in April, but had not been done yet.

P.S. I have noticed some hedge trimming and verge clearing taking place by PCC around and about, so hopefully we will see improvements on the paths locally, and we won’t get called out again!”
Their efforts didn’t go unnoticed. On social media, several residents shared their appreciation — and highlighted other areas still in need of attention:
- “Thank you, now I can get to the bus stop and shops by the shortest route with my shopping trolley.”
- “Be nice if the back of Barnstock, near the hill and side of the school, was cleared. It’s too overgrown and never cut back by the council, and it’s a dumping ground.”
- “Doing a great job!”
- “John and Reza Be are the best.”
These small acts of help, clearing a path, cutting back nettles, making a route safe again, may seem simple, but they make a real difference to people’s daily lives. They also reflect something important about our city: when residents see a problem, many are willing to roll up their sleeves and fix it.

As Peterborough continues to grow, this shared sense of responsibility and neighbourly care remains one of our greatest strengths. Whether it’s volunteers, community groups, or local councillors stepping in, every effort helps keep our town moving and keeps people connected.
