My first visit to Moor Farm near Peterborough revealed a busy farm shop, friendly service and a delicious bacon roll in a welcoming countryside setting.

A Taste of the Countryside at Moor Farm

Sometimes the best discoveries are hiding in plain sight, just a short drive from home.

Recently, I decided to visit Moor Farm Shop and Team Room after hearing positive comments from others. Turning off the B1443 Thorney Road at the farm sign, I followed Decoy Road a short distance that opened into a large car park. Despite its size, it was almost full, which immediately suggested it attracted plenty of interest from locals and visitors alike.

Enjoying a new experience

Entering through the main entrance, I found myself in an attractive butchery and serving area packed with tempting produce. Wherever I looked, there seemed to be something that caught the eye, from fresh meats to an array of tasty treats that would be difficult to leave behind.

Moving through into the shop itself, I discovered shelves well stocked with a wide range of foods, including products created on the farm and items sourced from local producers. It was the sort of place where browsing becomes part of the enjoyment, with plenty of opportunities to spot something different from the usual supermarket offering.

From there, I made my way into the restaurant and was immediately greeted by a smiling waitress who showed me to a table and handed me a menu. Although I was only looking for a light snack, there were plenty of tempting choices. In the end, I settled on a bacon roll accompanied by a black coffee, a simple combination but one that proved absolutely delicious.

As I enjoyed my meal, I took the opportunity to look around. The restaurant was busy, with most tables occupied, creating a welcoming atmosphere without feeling crowded. Large windows offered views across the surrounding countryside, while an outdoor seating area looked the perfect spot to enjoy food and refreshments on a warm sunny day.

Time to leave with a happy memory

After finishing my coffee, I made one final trip through the shop before leaving, picking up a few tasty items to enjoy later. It was impossible to resist taking something home after seeing so many tempting options on display.

My visit left a very positive impression. Good food, friendly service and a relaxed countryside setting combined to create an enjoyable experience from start to finish. It is certainly somewhere I plan to return to, not only to browse the shop again but also to sample more of what looked like a very appealing menu.

In a world that often seems to move at breakneck speed, places like Moor Farm remind us of the pleasure of slowing down, enjoying good food and supporting local businesses. My first visit certainly won’t be my last.
