Christine, a resident at Hampton Grove Care Home, completed an inspiring swim and tread challenge, raising £141 for the Barchester Charitable Foundation and showing remarkable courage after years away from the pool.

Hampton Grove Care Home, Peterborough resident Christine made a splash with an incredible personal achievement, successfully completing a swim and tread challenge and raising an impressive £141 for the Barchester Charitable Foundation.

Christine took the challenge on in August to raise money for the charity, which was counted in September and showed incredible determination and courage as she returned to the swimming pool after many years away from swimming.

More can be achieved than can be imagined

Christine herself was amazed by what she achieved, saying, “ I can’t believe that, after such a long time, I was still able to swim”.

Her achievement was met with huge cheers and encouragement, with members of the Hampton Grove Care Home team there to support her and even swim alongside her.

The moment was particularly special as Christine reached her personal milestone, with a huge smile showing just how proud and happy she was.

We are incredibly proud of Christine. Her determination was truly inspiring, and raising £141 for such a wonderful cause makes the achievement even more special.”

The Barchester Charitable Foundation supports people across England, Scotland and Wales by giving grants to small community groups and charities that help people overcome barriers and live more fulfilling lives.

Christine’s fantastic fundraising efforts will help support the Foundation’s work, while her personal achievement has inspired those around her to believe that it is never too late to try something new.

General Manager Stefan Lupu said, ‘Your determination, courage and positive spirit has made a real difference both in the swimming pool and to the charity you have supported’.
